Education is essential!

The main aim of an education system is to explain the facts that lie behind events, to understand them and then to communicate them… this is the basis for basic education, undergraduate and post graduate education…

So first of all attention is drawn to the events, then the determining factors behind these are taught… An example? The refraction of light and the factors that determine it… They are called optical rules…

The fine details of asking questions relating to an event are taught during basic education.

Then we move on to communicating the information. That point is reached through undergraduate, graduate and PhD education.

In the end this is called the education system.

If we know, we must communicate the information, and if we don’t know we must ask… And how we communicate it and how we ask is a skill gained through education…

Since the human is the master of the universe it follows that his mind is too wide to fit into a tight press.

I remember my own education years, those tutors we came across… One tutor knocked me over the head with a bunch of keys because he thought, by questioning infinity I was making fun of mathematics’ weak point… And there was one tutor, who gave me a “0” because I had proven a theory using a different method then the one he had been taught… He had emphasized the possibility that I may have written down lies… There were other tutors who got angry when we asked questions and said: it is all written in the book!

Anyhow, it’s too late for us, but it is essential that we give young people, our children a helping hand… Our only stumbling block is the fear of having our cursed uncouth authority undermined.

In certain things young people and children are better than us; but please, remember that those who went before us know the reality of those years. In other words, we should not forget the experience we possess…

When we started Medical Faculty we came across tutors who were putting on airs and showing off with their knowledge to us poor students. They were sitting on inaccessible pedestals. It is hard to describe the level of lack of communication… But there were also tutors who were communicating in a manner we could understand, using colloquial language, and who gave us the opportunity to ask questions. I feel like naming a few of those tutors. Our General Surgery tutor Hayrettin Cebeci was just one of them…

There was also Talia Balı Aykan who told us all the finer details and helped us to get to where we are today… It is impossible to forget him.

Let us now look at the new tutors. There is Tiraje Celkan with her magnanimous soul, a tutor who passes on everything she knows.

There is no end to these examples. I know and I say it is all about the education system. Lastly, a few more words on the subject…

I know from my own son how primary education is moving further away from the actual issue… I am not the only one who is aware of this; the villagers have the same apprehensions. They say we are not at all satisfied with the situation … We do not want to return to the dark days… This is just a word from me to those who shape education…

With regard to universities, what we need to know is that it is not all about having publications in influential journals… the actual issue is to become conscious of the great cause of humanity. And to stop only thinking of oneself.
