To apologize and to forgive
To apologize must be one of the most important signs of mental health. It is a strong indication that the person is capable of “empathy”, i.e. the ability to feel the harm inflicted on another person, and of “insight”, i.e. the strength to recognise one’s own errors, and that the person has a healthy personality that has humility and is far from narcissism. On the other hand, forgiving is to support a brother who by apologizing shows that he is struggling with himself… How easy it is to establish justice in a society where apologies and forgiveness are plentiful. And it is clear that the opposite leads to a series of social diseases like blood feuds, even chaos… This then is the sociological dimension of it.
